So….yeah, I managed to interview the stunning Emily Wood. Excuse my language, but I was really fucking excited when she accepted to be part of this section (I missed this so much!).
ICYMI! Emily and The Woods released a new EP not long ago, and you can find it here: https://itunes.apple.com/cl/album/then-we-collide-ep/id775081832?l=en
1. – Favorite song(s) ever
Emily: ‘You’re a Big Girl’ by Bob Dylan and ‘Next Lifetime’ by Erykah Badu.
2.- Favorite album(s) ever
E: ‘In Rainbows’ by Radiohead, ‘Dear’ by Keaton Henson and ‘Hejira’ by Joni Mitchell.
3.- Favorite song and album of 2013
E: I really liked ‘Strong’ by London Grammar from their album ‘If You Wait’.
4.- Personal heroes/People you’d like to collaborate with
E: I think one of them has to be Thom Yorke from Radiohead – he’s such a interesting artist and always very creative. It would be really cool to meet Feist too!
5.- How did the band start?
E: We had all known eachother a very long time and after a few years of me playing in a more acoustic style we collaborated and began to establish something a little different….!
6.- First song you wrote
E: I wrote some songs when I was at school…. can’t exactly remember them but something about a party! Haha!
7.- What comes first, the lyrics or the music?
E: It depends on the song but they usually form at the same time, or at least some of the lyrics do – a theme will emerge often and then I work on that for a bit longer.
8.- Favorite chord(s)
E: Ahhh, very tricky one! I always love major 7s …
9.- What are your plans for 2014 now that the new EP is out?
E: We are looking forward to recording a new single (next week in fact!) and releasing that. And then we are set to play at some festivals this summer and we can’t wait!
10.- Thank you again for taking the time to do this! Best wishes!
E: It’s an absolute pleasure. I can’t tell you how much I would love to visit Chile one day. Perhaps we’ll play there some time!! Wow – that would be amazing!
Isn’t she just the nicest person ever?! I had totally forgotten about this section, given all the time I’ve been dedicating to other projects.
I promise there’ll be more interviews, reviews and new sections coming real soon, so keep your eyes open.
